The dewatering project was developed to improve groundwater extraction within a mining environment through the use of boreholes reaching depths of up to 400 metres. Prior to implementation, the process was performed manually, requiring personnel to unreel and rewind heavy electrical cables. This approach presented significant safety risks, including repetitive strain injuries and accidents associated with handling bulky equipment. 

To address these challenges, a fully mechanised mobile unit was designed and developed specifically for this application. The unit enabled the efficient winding and unwinding of electrical cables with diameters of up to Ø60 mm and lengths of up to 400 metres. The system was powered by a petrol engine driving a hydraulic pump, providing reliable performance in demanding operating conditions. 

The project significantly enhanced operational safety by reducing manual handling requirements and minimizing the associated risks to personnel. In addition, the mechanised solution improved efficiency during dewatering operations, resulting in streamlined deployment and recovery of borehole equipment. The completed mobile unit represented a significant advancement in groundwater extraction support equipment, delivering improved safety, reliability, and operational efficiency for mining dewatering activities.
