Anglo American initiated a project to create digital copies of its large plant equipment. JAD was engaged to perform 3D scanning and modelling of heavy mobile equipment at Kolomela and Sishen Mines.

The project included the scanning of six haul trucks and four excavators/shovels, with additional equipment scheduled for inclusion at a later stage. Careful planning of the 3D scanning activities was essential, as equipment availability was limited to specific maintenance periods. The resulting 3D models were utilized to support the integration of additional equipment and to assist with the planning and routing of electrical cable installations. Through this project, JAD helped Anglo American improve the maintainability and inspectability of its equipment by providing accurate digital representations of critical assets.
